Do you have an intrinsic desire to care for people? Do you often find yourself saying…I wish there was something I could do? Do you want to help people attain maximum good health and well being? If this sounds like you, then perhaps you should consider becoming a health pro.
When one hears the term *health pro*, what do they think of? Do they think of doctors and nurses? Do they automatically assume that this is not a field of interest to them, that they aren’t capable of *all that schooling*? Maybe they think…I could never do that sort of work! I am terrible at Science, or Math, or…etc (We have a way of talking ourselves into and out of things, don’t we?) If so then perhaps a bit of research is in order!
The truth is, there are a multitude of careers available in the health care industry. Becoming a health pro is no longer just about being behind the doors of the local hospital, in the operating room, or making rounds checking up on patients. Of course, each of those things are vitally important and necessary. However, with our technology and ongoing advances in testing and research, the health care field is practically a bottomless well of opportunity.
Some additional available jobs in this industry in today’s world include, but are not limeted to the following: providing senior hospice care, doing energy healing work, becoming a physical therapist, massage, reflexology, mental health advocacy, becoming a doula and assisting with women during childbirth, etc. Some of these fields do require schooling and licensure, but then others only require experience and a desire to learn new things. All of them demand a sense of empathy and compassion.
The health care field is an ever expanding one. There is not a town, city, or state in the country that is without a need of health care providers. That need is not just confined to America either, nor are the possibilities of work as a health pro.
How many impoverished countries are lacking adequate health care? We only need to check the evening news or the home page of MSN to see the overwhelming need for health pros elsewhere…everywhere.
Why not take a sojourn to a different country, and see how you can lend a helping hand? Countries such as Africa or Mexico where health care is often sparse at best might be a good place to begin. The desire for health and healing transcend race, income, and religious background. The need for optimum health does not see color or income level. People are dying of illnesses that have immunizations readily available. You can be a part of bringing them what they need.
As a matter of fact, it is possible and commendable to start helping and healing in even in one’s own home. Listen to the needs of your own family and friends. How can you be of help to them? Can you learn what it takes to be a health care pro right there where you already are? The possibilities are endless really.
The main thing one needs to become involved in health care professions is a desire to help, a sense of compassion, and a willingness to learn. Sometimes even the slightest touch of a caring hand is enough to make a huge impact. That hand could be your own…the hand of a health care pro.
